New project - Spoken Word

The May 6th concert at Hendricks Chapel by the Imagine Syracuse youth and the Syracuse Children's Choir was FABULOUS!!!   They wore their "Journey Coats", which brought me great joy.  46 'coats'.  I was exhausted.  But what a revival for my soul, my spirit!  This is the kind of project that makes me rejoice that I have been gifted with being an artist.  Thank you God!  I am so blessed!

My latest project....SPOKEN WORD!  The sixth grade youth from the Imagine Syracuse music
program at Cathedral of Pompeii on the north side, will perform at the Red House at 3:00 on Sunday May 20th in a concert called "Journeys".

The concert is by the Treehouse Ensemble - a group of musicians formally with the Syracuse Symphony.  Included in the concert will be poetry by Congolese poet Machumu Sokuleri and Columbian composer Poala Marquez.  Now - if you have never had the privilege of hearing some of Poala's work, this concert is a must attend! Her work will move you to tears!

The Treehouse Ensemble have been working with the Imagine Syracuse Youth at the school teaching improvisation.  They invited Imagine to participate in their concert.  So - I got the opportunity to again work with them, creating a Spoken Word Performance called simply"Peace Is..."  The youth will wear their glorious coats and tell their stories about Peace......rhythmically,  melodiously, truthfully and with an honesty that only children can "tell".  The Treehouse  Ensemble will join the youth's voices, using instrumental improvisation to "call" and "answer" the children's words.  The performance offers a chance for audience members to join in this improvisation.  To write a collective story about peace.  Bring your open hearts, attentive ears and your words!
